This webpage aims to provide you with leads and information that will assist in familty history and Anglo-Boer War research. Obviously, the information here relates mainly to Australian participants and their part in the war. Links to other websites and a bibliography, however, may prove useful to general researchers.

In addition to the sixteen thousand Australians who served with official Contingents, as many as eight thousand others served with Britich and South African units. Research into these forgotten soldiers is being conducted by members of the Anglo-Boer War Study Group of Australia. Results from this research will be posted on this page as it becomes available.

ARCHIVAL SOURCES:

National Archives of Australia holds most of the service records for members of the Official Contingents.
You can access the NAA website by clicking here (external website).
 
Public Record Office Victoria holds supplementary records for soldiers from Victoria and their families, including requests for gratuities, disability grants, etc. Start with indexes to Treasury Department inwards correspondence.
