The  Anglo-Boer  War  Study  Group of Australia's
WEBSITE  INFORMATION

Planning for this website--to celebrate the Centenary of the Anglo-Boer War--began in June 1999. Members of the Anglo-Boer War Study Group of Australia, widely scattered throughout the continent, were contacted for memorabilia and photos suitable for inclusion in an online Exhibition available to all.

Website design was undertaken by Study Group member Ian MacFarlane (Webmaster of the 'Defending Victoria' Website) and the Study Group's Centenary Exhibition website was launched on the Internet in October 1999.

A funding grant from the Their Service: Our Heritage commemorative program (Australian Department of Veterans' Affairs) in December 1999 is enabling a major revamping of this website. The funding is gratefully acknowledged here.

Ian MacFarlane adds that his father, a WW2 veteran of the defence of Singapore and prisoner-of-war, who amazingly survived Changi Gaol and brutal treatment, labouring on the Burma-Siam Railway as a prisoner of the Japanese Army, has been wonderfully treated by the Australian Department of Veterans' Affairs. The care that the nation extends to former soldiers is unrivalled and a source of the greatest pride to all Australians.
